Weddings

Today more than a quarter of all marriages in England between a man and woman take place in the traditional setting of a Church of England church. You're welcome to marry in church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are baptised and whether or not you go to church.

You can marry in St. Mary's church if you can answer 'yes' to any of these:

That one of you:

  • live or have lived at any time in the parish for a period of at least 6 months, or
  • is on the church's electoral roll, or
  • has regularly attended normal church services for a period of at least 6 months, or
  • was baptised or prepared for confirmation in the parish.

That one of your parents:

  • live or have lived at any time in the parish for a period of at least 6 months, or
  • has regularly attended normal church services for a period of at least 6 months or
  • was married in the parish

That one of your grandparents:

  • was married in the parish.

As a first step, contact our churchwardens for a chat. They'll arrange to get the church and a minister booked for your wedding day.
